About Talking Circles

How are you feeling these days about being Jewish?

Angels of History is offering a space to come and talk and to be listened to.

Many of us are finding it hard to be Jewish right now. The ongoing conflict in the Middle East has touched us in different ways. Closer to home, antisemitism in the UK has escalated โ€” the recent attacks in Golders Green, Manchester and two London shuls leave us needing time to process and connect.

We're creating a space to talk honestly about what's coming up for you as a Jewish person and to listen to the experiences of others in a supportive environment.

So that you feel less alone and better resourced to navigate being Jewish right now.

What we are offering

Angels of History is running a series of three free, in-person talking circles at the Headroom Cafรฉ in Golders Green.

At these times of increasing polarisation we believe it helps to talk and listen to each other. You don't need to have anything figured out. You just need to want to be in the space and be willing to connect from your heart.

Who is this for

These sessions are for anyone who is Jewish and for those with Jewish ancestry.

  • We welcome people with a diversity of Jewish backgrounds and identities.

  • We run our groups with an awareness of the different histories of Ashkenazi and Sephardi Jews, and have lived experience of both communities in our team.

What is Angels of History

Founded in 2018, Angels of History is an initiative that brings together Jewish people to talk, listen, vent and reflect โ€” exploring identity, history and community in a space that welcomes the diversity of Jewish backgrounds and views.

What to expect

Each session is a small group (numbers depend on booking) facilitated by Alex Eisenberg and Lea Misan, professional facilitators from Angels of History.

  • There will be time to speak and time to listen

  • You can share as much or as little as you like

  • You are welcome to come back each week or just drop in to one or more sessions

How we hold the space

We want this to be somewhere different views can be expressed and genuinely heard. These conversations ask something of us -- that's part of why they matter.

  • We welcome the full diversity of Jewish experience, whatever your political views or religious practice.

  • We ask everyone to speak from their own experience.

  • No one is pushed to share more than they're ready to.

  • What's shared in these sessions stays within the group.

The facilitators will be there to support you with all of this.
